Background of Albania
Albania, a small Balkan nation, is situated in southeastern Europe, bordering Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Greece. Much of its landscape is mountainous, with Mount Korab being the highest peak. The majority of the population resides in the south-central lowlands and on the coastal plain, which adjoin the Adriatic and Ionian Seas.
The country currently hosts just under 100,000 full-time students in public higher education and about 25,000 in private institutions. All universities primarily offer Bachelor's-level diplomas, with some specialized non-university level programs like Nursing. Many courses are available in English and French. International students will need to demonstrate English language proficiency to meet university requirements.
