Universities in Beijing that accept the IELTS test
Founded in 1898, Peking University was originally known as the Imperial University of Peking. It was the first national university covering comprehensive disciplines in China, and has been a leading institution of higher education in China since its establishment. It also served as the highest administration for education at the beginning of its founding.
Beihang University (formerly Beijing Institute of Aeronautics) or BUAA for short, was founded on October 25, 1952 out of the merger of the aeronautical departments of Tsinghua University, Beiyang University, Amoy (Xiamen) University, Sichuan University, Yunnan University, Northwest Institute of Technology, College of Engineering, North China University, and Southwest Aeronautical Institute.
Beijing Jiaotong University, founded in 1896, is a national key university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and now is jointly supported by the Ministry of Education, the China Railway Corporation and Beijing Municipal Government. BJTU is one of the first universities listed in the “National 211 Project” in 1994 and the “985 Strength Discipline Innovation Platform Project” in 2011. Its Graduate School was established under the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2004. In 2013, as the leading institution, BJTU established the Collaborative Innovation Centre for Rail Transit Safety, which is among of the first 14 national collaborative centers of “National 2011 Projects”.
