Södertörn University
This one-year Master’s programme focuses on city tourism and its ability to build bridges between individuals, different groups and countries in a multicultural world.
During the first semester there are four courses that cover city tourism. In the first instance, the role and importance of the tourism phenomenon in contemporary society is examined, as well as how hospitality management can be conducted effectively in a tourism company. Methods for using information technology in the travel process are also studied, as well as how new products and organisation models can be developed. Finally, students look at how a tourist destination in a European city/region context can be planned and controlled. During the second semester, students work on a Master’s dissertation, starting with a literature survey for a research question chosen from a specified framework. New tourism research methods are studied as part of the dissertation.
To apply at one of these universities, you may need a proof of English proficiency. There are several standardised English tests that you can take to proof your English level, such as the PTE (Pearson Test of English), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System), offered by British Council and IDP.
