The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE), founded in 1953, is the biggest public university of economics in the Czech Republic. VŠE has six faculties offering applicants a broad spectrum of bachelor, master, PhD and MBA study programs.

In 1705 he seek permission from Emperor Leopold I for teaching engineering sciences . It was granted in 1707. He started teaching 12 students in his flat. The number of students rose to 200 in 1779. Lately Jan Ferdinand Schor became the successor. The Prague polytechnic became a technical university in 1863. In that time Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering and Architecture were taught.
