Charles University
The General Medicine programme offered by Charles University's First Faculty of Medicine is fully recognized in the EU and most countries for at least limited registration. The student should ask the authorities or professional bodies in the respective country for information about the conditions for full registration and recognition of the degree required to practice medicine.
The main goal is to cover information and topics which are not covered in depth at most medical schools but are needed in modern medicine. The first three weeks will consist of lectures where worldwide and local specialists will share their expertise. The second three weeks offer work experience in local hospitals, private clinics, pharmaceutical companies and other related institutions.
To apply at one of these universities, you may need a proof of English proficiency. There are several standardised English tests that you can take to proof your English level, such as the PTE (Pearson Test of English), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System), offered by British Council and IDP. IELTS is the most popular of these tests, with British Council offering more than 1000 test locations and being accepted by more than 9,000 organisations world-wide.
Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) degrees teach students about medical products that have not yet been accepted by mainstream clinical care, although their effects improve patient health and recovery. CAM practices are divided in: alternative medical systems, mind-body interventions, manipulative methods, and energy therapies. Graduates work as therapists, physicians, nutritionists, or health administrators.
