Czech Technical University

Czech Technical University is a public university. It was established in 1707 with the motto of “Scientia est potential” which means “Knowledge is power”. It ranked 121 among the technology universities of the world which was surveyed by THES-QS World University Rankings in 2010. Christian Joseph Willenberg was the first founder of this university. In 1705 he seek permission from Emperor Leopold I for teaching engineering sciences . It was granted in 1707. He started teaching 12 students in his flat. The number of students rose to 200 in 1779. Lately Jan Ferdinand Schor became the successor. The Prague polytechnic became a technical university in 1863. In that time Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering and Architecture were taught.
