This course draws on ecological expertise from researchers across Imperial College and our partner organisations. The impetus behind the course is to produce independent researchers with the skill and knowledge most relevant to the application of ecological theory to real world problems. The course puts a strong emphasis on developing the practical, analytical and management skills required by public and private sector ecologists in a core framework of ecological theory.
The taught course is largely based around practical or project work in collaboration with external organisations to give direct experience of a variety of applied ecology careers paths. This is then followed by a long research project with one of our external partners supported by an internal supervisor from the department of biology with complementary expertise.
