Nanostructural Characterisation of Thin Film Magnetic Materials
University of Leeds
This project will use ultra high spatial resolution analytical transmission electron microscopy to study the nanostructure-magnetic property relationships in magnetic thin film devices prepared by sputtering. Of particular interest are the interfaces between the different epilayers and with the substrate in the devices which are used in the field of spintronics for applications such as data storage.
The project will potentially involve collaborations with the University of Glasgow and the ISIS neutron source at Rutherford Appleton Labs.
iPRD offers a four year integrated MSc and PhD degree programme in Chemical Process Research and Development, which spans the chemistry-chemical engineering interface.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has the potential and flexibility to model a diverse spectrum of engineering and physical problems. The goals of CFD are to be able to accurately predict fluid flow, heat transfer and chemical reactions in complex systems, which involve one or all of these phenomena.
