Anglo-American Studies
University of Porto
The Anglo-American Studies course at the University of Porto is primarily intended for graduates in Modern Languages and Literature, with English Studies as part of their respective degrees, and is aimed at providing a response to the legitimate aspirations of all those who wish to broaden their knowledge and develop research work, thus furthering their skills at a postgraduate level.
The Translation and Language Services Master’s degree at the University of Porto has been a member of the European Master's in Translation (EMT) Network since 2009 and, after a new application and selection round, was re-admitted to the Network in 2019 for a period of 5 years.
The principal objective of this 3rd study cycle is to coordinate a spectrum of disciplines from natural language processing, computational linguistics, general linguistics and other areas that relevant to human communication and for the development of technologies used for human-machine communication in natural language. Although the course is organized by the Faculty of Letters, the cooperation of the Faculties of Economics and Engineering and University of Aveiro is essential to this interdisciplinary project, and the plan includes further cooperation of specialists from other Portuguese universities, as well as from foreign universities through ERASMUS teacher mobility agreements.
The Master in African Studies at the University of Porto is a joint degree of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences, counting upon the active collaboration of the Faculties of Economics and Law, in order to promote interdisciplinarity.
