Our BA programme in Fine Art at Bergen Academy of Art and Design is aimed at students who wish to become professional artists. The students’ own practice and individual tutoring lie at the heart of the study programme, placing artistic practice in the context of culture and society.
A Master’s Degree in Fine Art from Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KHiB) provides the graduate student with artistic, methodological and theoretical tools to work professionally within the field of contemporary art. The programme aims to help students develop a deeper understanding of art and related areas of contemporary culture. The current focus upon research within higher education will influence the further integration of practice and critical reflection and will influence the ways in which practice and theory are discussed at MA level.

Students are expected to contribute towards development of their profession through innovative methods – primarily by way of one major, independent and experimental project.
