The principles of air pollutant removal techniques, efficiency and parameters of pollution control devices are analyzed. The "traditional" and advanced methods for air pollution minimization are researched with the scope to manage air pollutant formation in various processes and environments.
The students are taught to understand classification and principles of surface analysis methods, emission methods, ion spectroscopies, to understand atomic collisions and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy, regularities of interaction of electrons with solids, to apply Auger electron spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy in the analysis of solids. The students are introduced to the principles of scanning tunneling and atomic force microscopy.
