Musical Semiotics

The course intends to provide a number of methodological and theoretical tools for semiotic analysis of musical phenomena, from the points of view of composition, performance, listening practices and musicological activity. Different schools of semiotics shall be explored and applied: structural, Peircean, Greimasian, and other.
During the course doctoral students will be provided with knowledge on modern, postmodern and contemporary theory of architecture. They will be taught to conceptualize urban and architectural processes, analyse, interpret and construct an architectural discourse at the highest scientific level.
The History and Theory of Arts study program at Kaunas University of Technology in theory and critics of arts is realized within
interdisciplinary context with focus on three areas: theory and history
of architecture, musicology.
