Intercultural Communication and Translation Czech – German

This collaboration programme between the Institute of Slavonic Studies, the Institute of Applied Linguistics and Translatology (Leipzig University) and the Institute of Translatology (Charles University Prague) offers its students not only language skills in Czech and German, but also a solid basis for translation.
For the bachelor degree in Translation, one of the following languages can be selected as the student’s core subject (90 credits including bachelor’s dissertation): English, French, Russian, or Spanish (“B language”, i.e. foreign language of which the student has an active and passive command).
The master programme in Translatology prepares students for a professional occupation in the field of specialist intercultural communication in practical applications, teaching or research. Students can choose either a more research-oriented major focus (Applied Linguistics) or a more application- oriented major focus (Specialised Translation).
The master programme in Translation Arabic-German prepares students for working in the field of specialist intercultural communication in professional translating, teaching and research, with focus either on research (Applied Linguistics and Translatology) or on working as a professional translator (Translation).
To apply at one of these universities, you may need a proof of English proficiency. There are several standardised English tests that you can take to proof your English level, such as the PTE (Pearson Test of English), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System), offered by British Council and IDP.
