General Medicine
Charles University
General medicine is the largest field of study at our faculty and the programme takes six years. The first three years are spent learning theoretical and pre-clinical subjects, the other half of the course focuses on clinical subjects. The General Medicine programme is offered by Charles University.
Medical or Scientific Preparatory Programs take place in a North Bohemian city of Liberec and a spa town of Marianske Lazne. The students intensively study the Czech language first, professional subjects which are required for university entrance exams are added into their program later within the first month.
The General Medicine programme offered by Charles University's First Faculty of Medicine is fully recognized in the EU and most countries for at least limited registration. The student should ask the authorities or professional bodies in the respective country for information about the conditions for full registration and recognition of the degree required to practice medicine.
The main goal is to cover information and topics which are not covered in depth at most medical schools but are needed in modern medicine. The first three weeks will consist of lectures where worldwide and local specialists will share their expertise. The second three weeks offer work experience in local hospitals, private clinics, pharmaceutical companies and other related institutions.
To apply at one of these universities, you may need a proof of English proficiency. There are several standardised English tests that you can take to proof your English level, such as the PTE (Pearson Test of English), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System), offered by British Council and IDP.
