The Department of Philosophy at Queen's University has faculty working in a wide variety of fields, including political philosophy, ethics, bioethics, feminism, contemporary metaphysics and epistemology, philosophy of language, philosophy of science, continental philosophy and the history of philosophy.
The M.A. program is a 12 month program. It is unique among Canadian M.A. programs designed to be completed in one year: students have the opportunity to explore their interests through both graduate seminars and Directed Studies courses (completed over the Fall and Winter terms), and an M.A. thesis on a topic of their own choosing, written under the supervision of a Faculty member.
The undergraduate program in Gender Studies at Queen’s University offers courses in feminist, anti-racist, Indigenous, postcolonial, queer, transgender, and social justice studies. Students learn how these theories/areas relate to tracing histories of oppression and privilege, engaging with popular culture, and critically analyzing everyday events.
